Fermi Linux Laptop Page
Laptops are not officially supported with Fermi Linux, but this page contains some pointers and collected wisdom to help you get your laptop up and running.
Boot Floppies. There are several different boot floppies.
- The normal boot floppy is for installing linux over a network on a standalone pc with an ethernet card. If your laptop has a built in ethernet adaptor, this may work for you.
- The pcmcia boot floppy and driver disk should work with most laptop
ethernet cards, even some internal cards that the regular boot disk might
miss. You should also use these boot floppies if you are installing from
cdrom and the laptop doesn't want to boot from the cd.
There is a list of included drivers here.
- There is also an extra driver disk that goes with the normal boot floppy you can try if you aren't having luck finding the driver for your network card.
Here is a list of some pcmcia cards that we have already tested with Fermi Linux.
