I guess you have SCSI disk on your system. Is that right?
The fact that this new disk is called /dev/hda tells me that the system
recognize this disk as the first disk on the IDE bus which by default is
the master disk and Linux would like it to be the system disk. Also the
old Linux Kernel doesn't like this master disk to be more than 8 GB.
However there is way to get around it.
