I, too, am interested in this subject. I do not have a working
installation, but I do have a pointer to advice: Go to the VRVS pages at
CERN: <http://wwwvc.cern.ch/>. There they have a link to a page on
hardware recommendations:
<http://wwwvc.cern.ch/Doc/Hardware/hardware.html>. I have not followed
their recommendations myself, but I intend to do so soon.

I would be interested to hear what you decide to do.
