My hard disk at home has:
Two partitions, the second parition was carved out w/FIPS under DOS after
Windows 98 was installed.
Windows 98 is in the first partition
The second partition is an extended partition
- an EXT2 file system
- another EXT2 file system
- Linux swap
After I did this, my real CDROM drive became E:
"My computer" shows another CDROM drive at D:
All attempts to access this D: drive hang windows for about 1 minute.
Occasionally applications hang winodws for about 1 minute. I think
the applicatiosn are examining all drives, and this is just another
symptom of the problem.
I guess I need some advice on how to admin win98 to make it forget about the
Bougus "D:" drive.
I am not a skilled windows admin, andt I cannot find any way to tell windows
to forget about the "D:" drive by exploring the menus. However Exploring the
menus is painful, becasue it provokes more of these one minute hangs.
