Your problem is with the Fermi version not your hardware. I had the
exact same experience trying to do a network install to a Micron Trek2 with a
Xircom PCMCIA card. The bottom line is that you can't do a network
install with the Fermialb version if it requires PCMCIA support. I was
able to install 5.2 by using the Red Hat boot image that is on the linux
server,
but of course you then do not get the Fermilab customizations.
If you really need the Fermilab customization you have to wait for
the CD-ROM.
I realize the Fermi Linux group doesn't support laptop stuff, but the
reality is that there are a lot of people who want to install the Fermi version
on laptops. I would hope that at some point they can correct the Fermi boot
disk so it at least doesn't prevent laptop network installs.
