Here's what we've changed:
New install floppies - get rid of those old ones and grab these from
linux.fnal.gov/linux/52test/i386/images:
boot.img CDROM install image (you do *not* want this one!)
boot.img.net NFS on-site installs (this *is* the one you want;
it only works via the network)
boot.img.cdrom same as boot.img
boot.img.redhat The Red Hat 2.0.36 boot floppy
It now probes for the video card and if it can't determine what it is, it will
ask instead of failing quietly.
All workgroups will now install the default FRHL install as well as 2 specific
workgroup packages:
<workgroup>-tag This contains a single file /etc/workgroup, with the
string <workgroup> in it. I.e., CDF-tag has CDF as the
string.
autorpm-config-<workgroup>
This is the specific autorpm.conf file for a specific
workgroup that points to 3 areas - the security area,
the addon area, and the
Fermi/workgroups/<workgroup>/RPMS area, so workgroups
can put in special packages that they want installed
by default. For instance, Chris Green's modified
ghostscript will go in there to be upgraded during the
install.
fermi-redhat-release This moves out the file /etc/redhat-release and creates
a symbolic link to /etc/fermi-redhat-release.
Things not included yet:
UPS/UPD bootstrap
specific workgroup configurations (packages and scripts)
We also need to have a name of a person from each group that will be the Linux
representative for that group. This person will be who controls what goes in
the workgroup sections - what extra packages do you want installed, what
scripts do you want run, etc. Please contact Connie and I with the name of
these individuals.
The bootable CDROM ISO image will be available some time next week to download
and we'll announce the location then.
Go forth, test, and be merry.
Cheers,
Dan
