Fermilab is certainly supporting g77 with gcc.
The distribution contains
gcc-g77-2.7.2.3-6.i386.rpm

I think that the present plan is to stick with this version until
we can migrate to egcs, when Linux kernel 2.2 becomes available.

The gcc 2.7 branch is a dead end, replaced long ago by gcc 2.8 and/or egcs.
Do you have a specific need to move from revision 2.7.2.3-6 to 2.7.2.3-14 ?
