We'll squeeze an Argonne Area Linux Users Group meeting in between the
holidays, and this is one not to be missed!
Where:
Fermi National Accelerator Lab
Wilson Hall, 7th floor, North East corner computer training room
When:
December 12, 1 - 4PM
What:
Beginning/Intermediate Linux System Administration Class
Connie Sieh and I taught 3 one day classes here at the Lab on Linux specific
topics for Unix System Administrators. At this meeting we'll present a more
detailed subset of the topics covered including:
Red Hat Installation
X Windows Configuration
Kernel Compilation
Basic Internet Security (tcp_wrappers, /etc/inetd.conf, ssh, etc.)
We supply the computers, you supply your bodies and maybe a few snacks (bag o'
chips or pop).
After the class we'll give a quick tour of the computer facilities here at the
lab, including the 37 node Linux data analysis farm and our new tape library
(it holds 5000 tapes. It's impressive).
Directions are on the "Calendar" page at the AALUG web site:
www.aalug.org/aalug/
Class size is limited so I will need to get a body count before you come.
There are 12 computers so I'll allow 24 people to come. If you have a laptop
that you want to install linux on, or want to come but don't need the hands-on
experience you can come, too, but I'll still need to know since the room size
is limited.
Drop me email at
Cheers,
Dan
